First SetupWhen you setup a new module (or if you factory reset one) you get taken through some steps, first of all it starts the loco moving slowly and asks "is this forward?" If you are using battery, careful not to get distracted by your phone and the loco sails off the edge of the table! They think you'll be using track...as if! :) You also have to choose if the loco is steam or diesel. This is for primitive US-style sounds output by your phone. These can be turned off in Settings/Monocacy Trains in iOS (they are not in the actual App). It goes without saying I am petitioning the manufacturer for at the very least an option for a UK-style whistle! In useThe app needs to be open and active or after 20 seconds the module thinks something's gone wrong and the loco will stop until it reconnects. If you dive out of the app and do something else and are back within the 20 seconds the app will re-detect the module(s) and things will keep running as they were. To be honest I found this a little annoying - I wanted to leave the loco trundling round and then go and do something else on my phone, like shoot video of the loco! :) I have requested the company put that in as an advanced option in a new version of the app - either a definable delay of x seconds/minutes or even be able to switch it off altogether (even if it means having to endure a safety warning ;) TroubleshootingSecondly, occasionally the app just can't find the module. At least one of the following has always worked for me at different times:
